Since we were established in 2019, the Disability Services Advocacy Team has worked to understand and support the veteran & armed forces community and their needs. This has involved working collaboratively with veteran stakeholders and the wider veteran community. Our aim has been to support the upskilling of our disability benefits, in particular looking at Personal Independence Payments (PIP) and Access to Work (AtW).

The shared reading charity for the Forces community gives free special resources (scrapbooks, teen journals, adult reading records) and books to families with children up to age 18. Whether a family is at home together or apart because of deployment, training, or geographical distance, reading the same book, chatting about it, and making a scrapbook or filling a journal is a fun way to stay connected, support well-being, and can help improve communication.
